5 Bruins On Thin Ice to Start 2024-25 Season

The Boston Bruins have experienced mixed results to begin the 2024-25 NHL season. As a result, these five players have already found themselves on thin ice.

2. Brad Marchand, LW

Let's just preface things by saying that Brad Marchand isn't going anywhere, regardless of his slow start to the season. The Bruins captain told reporters back in May that he "would love" to sign a contract extension to finish his career in Beantown.

Marchand is a fan favorite through and through and the fanbase would love to see him retire as a Bruin. Having said that, the love for No. 63 doesn't negate the fact that his performance has left something to be desired thus far.

Although he has four assists in his first seven outings, Marchand has yet to find the back of the net on 17 shots. Including the latest postseason, the 36-year-old winger has now gone 14 consecutive games without a goal. No matter how you slice it, that's somewhat concerning.

The silver lining is that whenever Marchand did score last year, it tended to come in bursts. Once he starts rolling this season, he'll likely start piling up the goals. He just needs to put one in the net to get the ball rolling.

The Bruins have some tough matchups remaining to close out October. Having Marchand rediscover his scoring touch would be one way to help them achieve success during that stretch.
