6 Patriots on the Chopping Block After Week 7 Loss

2. Jerod Mayo
Jerod Mayo isn't going to one-and-done as Patriots head coach, but his body of work through seven games leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, New England has one of the worst, if not the worst rosters in the league, but many of the criticisms around Mayo's job are taking place outside of the lines.
Mayo has shown zero hesitation to throw players under the bus, while often stopping short of holding himself or other members of the coaching staff accountable. On Sunday alone, the first-year head coach took aim at Ja'Lynn Polk postgame for his continuing drops and labeled the Patriots as a "soft football team across the board".
No quote better encapsulated Mayo's lack of accountability than when he was pressed on considering a change of defensive play-callers. In his answer, Mayo turned the blame on his players, saying: "even when we're in the right call they're not doing their jobs".
Head coaches calling out players probably sits a little bit better when the head coach is established and has Super Bowl rings, but when you're a first-time head coach of a 1-6 team, it probably doesn't sit well in the locker room.
New England ranks among the most penalized teams in the league, and committed seven penalties against Jacksonville on Sunday. Add in examples of poor clock management and Mayo's tipping the hand of Patriot gameplans pregame,
