The Boston Red Sox's third base situation has been a constant source of drama this month. On Tuesday, manager Alex Cora tried to downplay the situation.

The Boston Red Sox added several new faces this offseason, including two-time MLB All-Star Alex Bregman. Fans are excited to see what kind of impact a player of Bregman's caliber can make with the Red Sox, especially as the franchise's playoff drought has now reached three consecutive seasons.

Having said that, Bregman's arrival has caused controversy in Boston. Rafael Devers has made it abundantly clear that he wants to be the Red Sox's starting third baseman this season and beyond, leaving the fanbase to wonder how he and Bregman will co-exist in the clubhouse.

Although the 3B drama has been worrying for some, Red Sox manager Alex Cora doesn't seem concerned judging by his latest comments.

Alex Cora isn't Worried About Red Sox 3B Drama

On Tuesday, Cora appeared on an episode of "The Greg Hill Show" to discuss the Red Sox's offseason and spring training. When asked about the Bregman-Devers situation, the Boston skipper made it clear that any perceived drama is overblown.

"As far as the clubhouse, I'm not worried. They're grown men, and we have adults in the room now," Cora said. "(Bregman) is working with (Devers) at third base. The first thing he did was tell him about one point, about glove presentation, all that. And Raffy, he got it right away."

The fact that Bregman and Devers are already working on getting on the same page is a positive update. The last thing the Red Sox needed was for two of their best batters to be at odds, especially ahead of such a pivotal campaign.

Cora further proved the lack of team drama by revealing that he invited several players to his house for dinner on the evening of Devers' controversial press conference. Despite appearing unhappy earlier that day, the veteran 3B was in attendance.

"Raffy was part of (the barbecue), and he was hanging out with everybody," Cora said. "So, we should be OK. We should be OK."

If anybody knows when a situation is overblown, it's Cora. The 49-year-old has plenty of experience dealing with positional controversies after spending 14 seasons in the Majors as a player as well as six previous campaigns as Red Sox manager with the seventh right around the corner.

For now, it's best to take Cora's word and not look for drama where there isn't any. The Red Sox need complete focus if they want to return to the MLB postseason this fall and keeping unwanted distractions out of the way is the first step to achieving that goal.

Fortunately, Devers' comments haven't seemed to damage Boston's outlook too much. Oddsmakers are still very much in the Red Sox's corner, proven by their currently holding the eighth-best 2025 World Series odds (+2200) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
