Running Backs (6)

The running back position took a bit of a hit in 2024 with inconsistent protection from the offensive line, and lead back Rhamondre Stevenson led the NFL in fumbles with seven.

In the offseason, owner Robert Kraft said that he wanted to add a “speed running back” in the NFL Draft to upgrade the offense and give Maye another weapon.

In doing so, Vrabel, GM Eliot Wolf, and the rest of the front office made the decision to draft TreVeyon Henderson 38th overall, who’s arguably the best in his class as being a complete package for a running back.

Fullback (2)

That’s right. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is bringing back the fullback position, a staple of his offenses. In doing so, New England signed Brock Lampe as an undrafted free agent.

Lampe played four years at Northern Illinois as a linebacker who turned to fullback full time in his second year, where he remained for the next three years.

In 2024 at Northern Illinois, Lampe was coached by former Patriots running back James White. He told Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston that he talked to McDaniels about Lampe, telling him that Lampe is everything he’s looking for.
