Breaking Down Patriots' Depth Chart Ahead of OTAs

The New England Patriots head into their offseason programs and training camp with 95 players on their updated roster. They will need to cut 42 players from now until the end of the preseason to complete the 53-man roster.

Wide Receivers (12)

The Patriots' wide receiver group ranked at the bottom of the league last year. To help with that, they added Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins in free agency, but they’re both 32 years old and on the backend of their careers.

To further support Maye, New England added the top separating receiver in the third round of the NFL Draft with Kyle Williams, a versatile receiver who can line up all over the field.

It’s worth noting that the Patriots also drafted two receivers last year— Javon Baker, Ja’Lynn Polk— with great value that still have a lot to prove.

  • Stefon Diggs
  • Mack Hollins
  • DeMario Douglas
  • Kyle Williams*
  • Kayshon Boutte
  • Kendrick Bourne
  • Javon Baker
  • Ja’Lynn Polk
  • John Jiles
  • Efton Chism III (UDFA)
  • Jeremiah Webb (UDFA)
  • Demeer Blankumsee (UDFA)

Tight Ends (7)

It was surprising to see the Patriots not pick a tight end during the Draft. They have Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper, both of whom will be 31 years old this season. It’s important to prepare for an upgrade so they’re not in a familiar position to where they were in 2019 after Rob Gronkowski retired

After the draft, the Patriots added two undrafted rookie free agents to add depth heading into camp.

  • Hunter Henry
  • Austin Hooper
  • Jaheim Bell
  • CJ Dippre (UDFA)
  • Gee Scott Jr. (UDFA)
  • Jack Westover
  • Giovanni Ricci
