The full NBA schedule has officially been revealed today, on Thursday, August 13. After Jaylen Brown was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers by the Boston Celtics, fans were curious as to when Brown would play his first game back in Boston. With the schedule out, fans will have to wait until 2027 for Boston to host Philly.

Philly will head to Boston to take on the Celtics on Thursday, January 21. As exciting as this will be, this will be the second time these two teams meet this season, with the first matchup on Tuesday, November 10. We'll see four games between the two teams in the regular season (six if you count the two preseason games), with the final two occurring on Sunday, February 7 in Philly and Sunday, March 7 in Boston.

Heading into the games, Jaylen Brown will be the obvious talking point, but he won't be the only focal point.

Their matchups against the 76ers will be Boston's most anticipated

Following this offseason, it's safe to say that the games against the 76ers will be the most interesting games for the Celtics this season. Not only due to the obvious Brown trade, but also because Philly signed LeBron James in NBA free agency.

LeBron is one of Boston's biggest rivals when looking at individual players, and now he'll be playing for one of Boston's biggest rivals. Adding both Brown and LeBron will make tickets to see them play in Boston the top tickets for Celtics fans this season. It also helps that Philly very well could be a top team in the league next season.

Boston's first home game against Philly is a tough draw for them, as the Celtics will be on a back-to-back, hosting the Indiana Pacers the night before (who will be more competitive this season with Tyrese Haliburton back). It will be interesting to see how Boston handles the game with Paul George and Mitchell Robinson, who could see rest games on back-to-backs.

The first game between the two will see Boston on the first night of a back-to-back, with them being on the road against the Toronto Raptors the following night. For the final two games against Philly, Boston will have a day off before and after the games.

Overall, I think it's a positive for Boston to play one game early against Philly. With how many stories will be surrounding the matchup this season, playing them early could help temper the emotions over some of the later games (though I would've preferred for Boston to host Philly earlier).

The Celtics will kick off the NBA season

Earlier in the week, the NBA announced the opening night schedule, and Boston will play in the first NBA regular-season game. What's surprising is that they won't be playing the reigning champion New York Knicks (who'll host Philly to start the season), but will instead be on the road playing the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, October 20.

A first for the NBA, this game will take place at 3:00 pm, marking a rare NBA afternoon game on a non-holiday date.

We're getting closer to seeing the Celtics return to basketball, with training camp scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 29. Preseason games won't be much later, starting in October. After the offseason they had, it will be interesting to see how Boston performs this season.
