Celtics Legend Makes Shocking Admission About the Lakers

Rajon Rondo went on FanDuel TV's Run It Back show to discuss his feelings after winning the 2008 title for Boston and then the 2020 title for the Lakers, which was played in the NBA Bubble during the pandemic.

In 2008, Rondo was only 22 in his third year in the league when the Celtics defeated the Lakers in six games. This was Rondo's first NBA title and the Celtics' first since 1986. Alongside Pierce, Garnett and Allen, this Celtics team was the best we had seen in some time.

12 years later at age 34, Rondo won with the Lakers, as he provided a veteran presence off the bench that could facilitate and play tenacious defense when need be. Although there were no fans in the arena, players were allowed to have a few family members come and watch the games, as this created a special moment for Rondo and his son, Pierre.

Rondo said that his values were different for both titles, but being able to have his son share the moment with him in 2020 felt a little more special. The 2008 title "got me to where I am in my career off the start" according to Rondo. He was loved by Celtic fans for his effort on both ends of the floor, as he was an exceptional passer and pesky defender in his prime.

For Rondo, these titles were in different places and different times in his career. He had believed winning titles would be the new normal for him after winning in 2008 with Boston. However, things didn't go according to plan, which made him much more appreciative about winning in 2020 with LA towards the end of his career.

Rondo carved out a successful,16-year NBA career, in which he was a two-time champion, four-time All-Star, one-time All-NBA and four-time All-Defensive Team player. Rondo last played for the Lakers and Cavaliers in the 2021-22 season.
