Bojan Bogdanovic is a 10-year NBA veteran and a career 15.6 points-per-game scorer. After spending the first three years of his career with the Brooklyn Nets, Bogdanovic has bounced around the league–spending time with the Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, and the New York Knicks.
Following his release on Wednesday, Bogdanovic may need to wait until the offseason to sign his next contract since he is out for the remainder of the year after undergoing season-ending foot surgery.
One team that should be interested in Bogdanovic is the Boston Celtics. Even though they have one of the deepest rosters in the league, the Celtics are thin on the wing positions behind homegrown superstars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Celtics Have Perfect 2025 Offseason Target After Injury Release
If Bogdanovic is looking for a championship ring, he should be interested in signing with the reigning champs on a one-year, prove-it deal to re-establish his value.
Bojan may not be the first wing off the bench due to the continued improvement of sharpshooter Sam Hauser, but if he can regain his health, he could be one of the steals of next offseason. As a career 39.4% three-point shooter, the 6’ 7’’ forward would fit right into the team’s 5-out offensive scheme while providing length on the wing opposite Hauser.
In addition, this Celtics roster is very expensive, and the team’s new owner will be searching for cost-effective ways to add talent. Acquiring a starting-caliber player at a position of need for pennies on the dollar would be quite the luxury.
The Celtics are 5.5 games behind the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, but fresh off of winning Banner 18 last season, the team has a great chance to go back-to-back, a feat that has not been achieved since the Kevin-Durant-led Golden State Warriors in the mid-late 2010’s. And who knows, if the team were to add a sniper in Bojan Bogdanovic next offseason, they may go for a three-peat?
