Celtics Receive Big News From First 2025 All-Star Voting Update
Fresh off of an NBA championship, the Boston Celtics are sitting pretty in the Eastern Conference’s second seed with a 24-9 record. With a better record, comes more national recognition and praise for its players.
With the NBA’s first All-Star fan vote returns being released Thursday, the reigning champs have three of its players in the top 10 for each position.
Leading the way for the team is Jayson Tatum with almost 1.4 million votes, who's also second in voting for Eastern Conference Frontcourt players behind Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Tatum has started right where he left off last season with nightly averages of 28.3 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, and 5.5 assists per game, continuing his run as one of the league's very best. Additionally, Tatum is no newcomer when it comes to All-Star game appearances, having been selected to represent the Eastern Conference the last three seasons and winning All-Star Game MVP in 2023.
Jaylen Brown is just a few slots below Tatum, coming in at fifth place in the Eastern Conference Frontcourt voting, Like his frontcourt counterpart, Brown has appeared in three All-Star games to date (2021, 2023, and 2024). This season, Brown has taken his game to another level, setting new career highs in assists (4.6) and steals (1.4) while contributing 24.4 points and 6.0 rebounds a night.
The Celtics' third and final player in the top 10 after the first fan vote update is guard Derrick White, who lands at the tenth spot with 120,706 votes. While D-White may not be as big of a household name as the other two, he has made a name for himself ever since he put on the Celtics green following a trade at the 2022 trade deadline.
Though his statistics have gone up every year as a Celtic, his value to the team cannot be measured by what’s simply in the box score and the team would not be where it is without him. In his 3+ seasons, the Celtics have made it to the Eastern Conference finals three times, made two NBA finals appearances, and of course won the championship in 2024.
Even if all three may not be All-Stars, it’s clear that Boston Celtics fans are glad they all put on their team’s uniform every night.
