The Boston Celtics have been one of the busiest teams of the summer. Just when you think that Brad Stevens must be done dealing, the Celtics general manager makes more moves to set the organization up for the future. Following the recent Georges Niang trade and Chris Boucher signing, the Celtics continued to add to their roster on Saturday.
HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported over the weekend that the Celtics were signing Ron Harper Jr. to a deal. Keith Smith of Spotrac later revealed that this is an Exhibit 10 deal, allowing Boston to evaluate Harper during training camp before giving him a longer-term deal.

Celtics Sign Ron Harper Jr. to a Training Camp Deal
This is the second straight season Harper has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Celtics. Last year, Harper played on Boston's Summer League team, stayed with the Celtics through training camp before eventually joining the Maine Celtics of the G League. He was then signed to a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons, where he finished the season.
The Celtics have an open roster spot that Harper is essentially tying out for. The 25-year-old swingman has bounced around the league since going undrafted out of Rutgers in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has spent time with the Raptors and the Pistons, averaging 2.2 points in 6.3 minutes per game in 11 appearances. In his 57 G League games since then, he has averaged 17.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1 steal, and 0.9 blocks per game with 47.0/38.0.81.7 shooting splits.
Harper is the older brother of this year's No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper, and son of former five-time NBA champion Ron Harper. The latter has had a long and successful NBA career, while the former is on track to be a star. Ron Harper Jr., on the other hand, has had a slower start to his NBA career. If he can't land a guaranteed deal with Boston or another team before the 2025-26 campaign, he may have to take his talents elsewhere in the world.
