The Boston Celtics' front office made several cost-cutting measures during the 2025 offseason. The franchise freed itself from over $300 million in projected salary and luxury tax costs that they were staring in the face.

While this move doesn't free up much money, the Celtics waived another member of their 2024-25 roster on Monday as Brad Stevens works towards finalizing the training camp roster for the upcoming campaign.

According to the team's official social media account, second-year forward Miles Norris has been waived by the Celtics after making three regular-season appearances for the franchise this past year. In those three appearances, Norris averaged 2.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game.

Norris joined the team mid-season on a two-way contract after spending the bulk of the 2024-25 season as a member of the Memphis Hustle G League team. A four-year college player, Norris started his collegiate career with the Oregon Ducks before spending his final three seasons with the UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos, where he earned Second Team All-Big West honors as a senior.

With Norris being waived, Boston's roster currently sits at 17 players. The Celtics will be allowed to carry up to 21 players on their training camp roster before they must be cut down to 15 ahead of the 2025-26 regular season.

At this time, there are no players rumored to be on Boston's radar for one of those training camp roster spots. However, the end of September will be here before we know it, so those signings should not be far off.

Given the type of opportunity that could be available with the Celtics following several veterans being shipped out of town and Jayson Tatum, likely, shelved for the season as he recovers from Achilles surgery, Boston could be a desirable location for UDFA rookies and veterans looking to break their way onto a roster for the upcoming season.

Norris won't be part of that group taking the Celtics' practice floor later this fall, that much is known. How Stevens fills out the rest of the camp roster will be something to watch moving forward, though.
