It's official! The Boston Red Sox have called up Jhostynxon "The Password" Garcia from Triple-A Worcester to the MLB, according to WooSox reporter Tommy Cassell. Wilyer Abreu was put on the injured list due to calf issues and will miss a few games, so Garcia was the next man up.

The deal is, if Garcia performs well on their eight-game road trip (presumably if he plays every game), the Red Sox will find themselves with another mess to deal with. Garcia is an outfielder, and it adds to that logjam when Abreu comes back from injury... and that injury isn't long-term either.

The international signing from Venezuela was slashing .303 in Worcester, with an OPS of .931, and a slugging percentage of .562. He hit 17 home runs, 12 doubles, three triples, and batted in 56 runners in 66 games.

He started the season with Double-A Portland, but was immediately called up (along with Blaze Jordan, around the same time) once Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony were nearing their own respective call-ups earlier this season. Garcia wasn't doing the best in Portland, respectively, but once he got promoted, he started tearing the cover off the ball like it was no tomorrow.

What the Sox are getting from this kid is simple: He hits bombs. Last year, he hit a combined 23 home runs for three different teams (Single-A Salem, High-A Greenville, and Portland), earning himself one of the top five spots in the Red Sox top-30 prospect list. He never left that list, and once the Sox called up Anthony, Mayer, and Kristian Campbell, he was immediately ranked even higher.

That's the type of offense the Red Sox could use after averaging only 3.2 runs in their last six games.

Garcia proved that he wanted a promotion for himself because after they all went to the majors, his batting average skyrocketed, and he never looked back.

The Sox are getting a gem of a player, and he, along with Roman and possibly Campbell in the coming weeks, will be united once again. They can possibly save this season for the Red Sox in the most magical way possible. The kids are coming one by one, and it spells 'danger' for the rest of the American League.
