The Boston Red Sox notably missed out on the Juan Soto sweepstakes last week as the star slugger signed with the Mets in the biggest move of the winter. The front office didn't waste any time making a blockbuster move of their own. After seeing the two star pitchers Max Fried and Nathan Eovaldi come off the market, the Red Sox pulled off a massive deal to bring in Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox.

Considering that there were still solid pitchers available on the free agent market, the Red Sox giving up as much as they did for Crochet was met with some criticism. Perhaps, it may be too early to judge the move since Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow teased more moves.

The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham reported that Breslow is looking for another starter, as well as a right-handed bat, relief help, and a backup catcher. Fans should wait until all the moves are done to evaluate the offseason as a whole.

MLB News: Red Sox Looking to Make Another Blockbuster Move

Whether the next move will be a free agent signing or another trade remains to be seen. One of the top names the Red Sox have been linked to is the Astros star Alex Bregman. The third baseman might be exactly what Boston is looking for but according to the latest report by MassLive's Sean McAdam, there is a divide between Breslow, Alex Cora, and team president Sean Kennedy about whether Bregman is the right move.

A few names have emerged as the Red Sox' reported favorite targets. These include All-Star free agent Corbin Burnes and Mariners ace Luis Castillo. Whether Boston should give up even more assets for another pitcher is debatable but it's clear that Breslow is scouring the market to upgrade the roster.
