With the 2025-26 NBA season approaching, each team is finalizing who will be on the roster when training camp begins. For players who aren't on rosters, some might be waiting for a call for a team if they need to replace someone or decide to move overseas to continue their career.
For the Boston Celtics, a former fan favorite player signed with a new team to continue his playing career.

Former Celtics C Tacko Fall Signs with CBA's Ningbo Rockets
If Celtic fans want to follow Tacko Fall next season, he'll be playing for the Ningbo Rockets in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), according to HoopsRumors' Luke Adams last week. Fall is most remembered for the two seasons he spent in Boston; however, he hasn't played an NBA game since the 2021-22 season.
Before joining the Celtics, Fall spent his time in college playing for the University of Central Florida Golden Knights, where he played for 4 seasons. He gained notoriety due to his height, standing at 7'6" and his 8'4" wingspan.
During his senior season, Fall played a key role in helping UCF reach March Madness for the first time since 2005, making history as they defeated Virginia Commonwealth University in the first round, giving the Knights their first-ever win in March Madness.
Fall would go undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft but signed on with the Celtics for the NBA Summer League. Following the summer, Fall would earn a two-way contract with the Celtics, which he would hold for the next two seasons. He appeared in 26 games without a start in a Boston jersey, averaging 2.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks per game with a 74.4% field-goal percentage.
Despite his size, Fall struggled to stay in the NBA due to his one-way play style. He just didn't have what it takes to make it as a modern-day center in the league.
Fall went on to spend parts of the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that was as far as his NBA dream would go. He's since spent most of his time in the CBA with a brief run in the National Basketball League, too.
While Fall is preparing for a new season in the CBA, the Celtics' season is approaching, with media day and training camp set to start on Monday, Sept. 29. The team will open its preseason play on Wednesday, Oct. 8, against the Memphis Grizzlies on the road.
