It's an exciting time of the NBA season because the playoffs are almost here. The Boston Celtics' postseason outlook appears brighter than ever as they currently occupy the Eastern Conference's No. 2 spot, giving them a solid amount of momentum as they look to successfully defend their NBA Championship this spring.

The final stretch before the postseason is the calm before the storm, though, making the perfect time to check in on what some ex-Celtics are up to. One former Boston player who made headlines not too long ago was Daniel Theis (2017-21, 2022) when he decided to leave the NBA to continue his basketball career overseas in February.

While some players might regret leaving the association, the veteran big man has made it clear that isn't the case for him.

Former Celtics Center Daniel Theis Doesn't Regret Leaving NBA

On Saturday, Theis spoke with EuroHoops' Antonis Stroggylakis about his recent NBA exit. When asked if he regrets leaving North America for a stint with AS Monaco, the German-born big man made it clear that he's happy with his overseas return.

"I feel great. I have no regrets at all," Theis admitted. "We have a great team and we have a big goal ahead of us. It’s all I’m thinking about right now... I made my decision very quickly after I talked with coach (Vassilis) Spanoulis. My decision was pretty fast for me."

Even though some players take some time adjusting to their new environment, that hasn't been the case for Theis. The 6-foot-8 rebounder has played well alongside his Monaco teammates, averaging 13.8 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 61.5% from the floor and 44.4% from deep across his first six EuroLeague outings.

It's a well-deserved turnaround for Theis, who was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder nearly two months ago. He's clearly found his mojo again overseas, leaving time to tell if he'll attempt an NBA comeback by signing with a team looking to bolster its frontcourt this offseason.

In the meantime, Theis will continue playing overseas while his former team chases another Larry O'Brien Trophy. Speaking of which, the Celtics are heading into the regular season's final stretch with the second-best 2025 NBA Finals odds (+185) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
