Former New England Patriots coach Dean Pees hasn’t been in the NFL since the 2022 season with the Atlanta Falcons as their defensive coordinator. The 75-year-old coach began his NFL coaching career with the Pats in 2004.

Pees was the linebackers coach for two seasons (2004-06) before being promoted to defensive coordinator for four seasons (2006-09). Pees eventually moved on from New England, coaching with the Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, and Falcons.

Due to his wealth of experience and football knowledge, the former Pats defensive coordinator is shockingly returning to the NFL and going to one of his old stomping grounds.

On Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reported that Pees will be a senior advisor on the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coaching staff. First-year Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr made the announcement and said that Pees will start this week.

The former NFL assistant spent eight seasons with the Ravens after completing his last season in New England in 2009.

With Baltimore, Pees was their linebackers coach for two years (2010-11) and was then elevated to defensive coordinator for the last six seasons (2012-17). The former Pats defensive coordinator will try to improve a Ravens’ pass defense ranked 31st in yards allowed (280.2).

Patriots fans will not get a chance to see Pees as the Ravens do not play New England this season. However, fans will be tuning in to see if the 75-year-old can help this Ravens’ defense as he made the Pats’ defense one of the toughest to score on.
