The NFL offseason is in full swing. Before free agency officially kicks off on March 12, the teams around the league are still revamping their coaching staff.

The latest head coach to be hired was Kellen Moore. The Eagles offensive coordinator became the New Orleans Saints head coach after the Super Bowl. As he builds his coaching staff, he hired former NFL quarterback Scott Tolzien as the new QBs coach.

This means that a new opportunity may emerge for a former Patriots signal-caller.

Former Patriots backup QB Will Grier could become an option for Tolzien and Moore in New Orleans. Grier had two separate stints with the Cowboys, the first one between 2021 and 2023 and another last season.

Tolzien was a coaching assistant for the Cowboys during Grier's first stint and a QB coach last season. Moore was an offensive coordinator in Dallas between 2019 and 2022 before joining the Chargers.

Their familiarity with Grier could entice them to target him as a third-string quarterback.

Grier hasn't appeared in an NFL game since his rookie season with the Panthers. After being a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Grier started in two games in Carolina, losing both, throwing four interceptions, and no touchdowns.

Since then, he has bounced around on practice squads, including the Patriots, during the 2023 season. New England initially signed Grier off the Bengals practice squad. He was eventually waived and brought back to the practice squad.

However, nhe ever had a chance to suit up behind Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones until the Chargers signed him to be a backup to finish out the season.
