After a quick stint in the majors, former Boston Red Sox infielder Bobby Dalbec may be returning to the minor leagues. On Sunday, the Chicago White Sox announced they designated Dalbec for assignment.

With Dalbec being DFA’d, the White Sox have one week to trade the veteran infielder or try to get him through waivers. If it's the latter, the former Red Sox will have a chance to go into free agency as he has a previous career outright.
The former Red Sox slugger appeared in seven games with the White Sox this season, slashing .222/.333/.278 with a double, an RBI, and three walks.
Dalbec joined the Chicago White Sox’s organization on a minor league contract this offseason, hoping to make the big league club.
The 29-year-old infielder failed to make the Opening Day roster in the Windy City and was sent down to the minor leagues. In 12 games at Triple-A Charlotte this season, Dalbec hit a sizzling .326 with three doubles, a triple, four home runs and 13 RBI. He also owned a 1.050 OPS.
Before joining the White Sox this offseason, Dalbec spent time with the Red Sox and at Triple-A Worcester. With the Red Sox, Dalbec struggled in the majors, hitting a disappointing .133 with two doubles, a home run, and eight RBI in 37 games.
However, when he was sent down to Triple-A Worcester, Dalbec slugged .252 with 20 home runs and 68 RBI in 97 games. He can hit Triple-A pitching, but it's not clicking for the veteran in the major leagues.
When the White Sox announced that they were designating Dalbec for assignment, Red Sox fans jokingly mentioned how Boston should bring back Dalbec, given the serious injury to Triston Casas. But based on how he played last season and now this season with Chicago, it would be shocking to see Dalbec back with the organization.
