Gabe Jacas has exactly what it takes to be missing piece Patriots need

The Patriots needed to bolster their pass rush, and second-round rookie Gabe Jacas should be the perfect addition because of his passion, physical tools, and high motor.

The New England Patriots' defense was one of the best in the league last year, and it was one of the biggest reasons they made the Super Bowl. They are bringing back almost all their players on the defense, and there is one addition from the draft that could turn into their new X-factor.

Gabe Jacas, their newest edge rusher, has all the tools to be an absolute force on the defense. He just recently signed his rookie contract, so let’s dive into his potential.

Gabe Jacas was one of my favorite prospects in the draft

Jacas was an absolute monster at Illinois. He played with a passion and violence on every snap. With incredible strength and athleticism, he had a multitude of ways he could beat opposing offensive linemen.

When you turn on his tape, it shows his relentless motor and play speed that just gets more and more aggressive with each snap. At 6 '4, 261 pounds, Jacas has the frame to succeed at the NFL level, while utilizing a play speed that would be impressive for somebody half his size. The 22-year-old has all the tools to be one of the Patriots' biggest weapons this season; it’s just a matter of staying healthy and following the coaching of Mike Vrabel and his staff.

Gabe Jacas' is a fantastic fit in New England's defense

The Patriots' defense is obviously loaded with talent. However, last season they desperately needed help at the edge rusher position. They have two great pieces at defensive tackle in Milton Williams and Christian Barmore, so adding Jacas into the mix could be very fun to watch. The violent play style of Jacas matches up very well with Williams and Barmore, and opposing offensive coordinators will have their hands full trying to contain all three.

Since Jacas is a rookie, many teams may overlook him, but after a few weeks of getting comfortable at the NFL level, I believe he will quickly begin dominating.

Gabe Jacas is looking to show out after a strange offseason

There was a while there when Jacas wasn’t present at the team facilities when many people expected him to be.

There were rumors of injury, contract dispute, and the combination of both.

He finally signed his rookie contract recently, which took much longer than it should’ve. Regardless, it seems that Jacas is fully bought in and ready to roll, and Patriots fans should be very excited.
