Jarren Duran has been good this month, and he's reminding Boston Red Sox fans why the team stuck with him even during his struggles for most of the season (well, at least partially. The story may be different if Roman Anthony and Masataka Yoshida were healthy).
Through 22 games this month, Durran is batting .263 with five home runs and 10 RBIs. He also hit the go-ahead grand slam in Tuesday's 7-3 win against the Miami Marlins.
The California native has mostly struggled this season (even with a mostly hot August, he is batting just .209 on the year), and many Red Sox fans were clamoring for the team to either bench him or completely move on from him at the trade deadline (obviously, neither of those happened). But to give credit where credit is due, he has turned things around at the best time possible for the team, given their playoff push.

As things stand, Boston is in a good spot to make its second consecutive playoff appearance. With roughly a month of regular-season baseball left, the Red Sox are 73-59. They own the second AL Wild Card spot (6.5 games above the Cleveland Guardians, 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees), and they are just five games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the division title.
Barring some late-season collapse (... again), the Red Sox are going to be playoff-bound this year, and it will be all hands on deck as they look to make some serious noise ahead of a possible World Series run.
Even though they have been hit with injuries and fatigue, nobody should have questions about Boston's elite pitching staff. Their pitching has been among the best in the league all season, and things should only get better if they get Garrett Crochet back this season (even if it's just out of the bullpen). Ultimately, if their offense can play the way it has over the last couple of months, then that's what's going to end up moving the needle for them the most.
Even with Anthony's return from injury likely on the horizon, it would be tough for the Red Sox to take Duran out of the lineup with how good he has looked at the plate. And if he can keep this pace up, then he's going to be a big part of what Boston is doing this October.
