With trade speculation surrounding the Boston Celtics, star forward Jaylen Brown has made it clear he plans to stay in the city, at least for the summer. According to Noa Dalzell from CelticsCLNS, contrary to other offseasons (such as last summer when he traveled to the Middle East and in 2019 when he was with Team USA in China), Brown plans to stay in Boston and emphasize community development.

Most notably, Brown will be hosting his Bridge Program at MIT, a “multi-day educational and leadership initiative for Black and Brown youth from 8th to 12th grade.” The program shows Brown’s ongoing commitment to social impact and youth empowerment.

Recently, Brown hosted a pop-up shop event where he promoted his “741” apparel brand. During his event, he spoke with NBC 10 Boston on his feelings towards the city:

"Boston is home. I’ve been here for 10 years of my life. Even though sometimes online or in the media there’s a lot of noise, when you get out into the community, there’s a lot of love and genuine connections, and I get to see that today."

Drafted third overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, Brown has grown into one of the premier two-way wings in the league. For his career, he has averaged 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. This past season was one of Brown’s best, as he chipped in 22.2 points a game and set a career high in assists per game (4.5).

As he enters his tenth season in Boston, Jaylen Brown has distinguished himself as not only an elite athlete but also as a leader off the court. His commitment to stay in Boston over the summer reinforces the idea that his impact goes far beyond basketball.
