Sports fans are as passionate of a group of people as you will ever come across in life and while that is certainly a positive thing the vast majority of the time the ugly side of fandom appeared to make an appearance during the Boston Celtics' 124-90 victory over the Washington Wizards at TD Garden on Monday night.

Thanks to his work ethic and contributions on the floor during his tenure with Boston, Marcus Smart has always been considered to be a fan-favorite among Celtics supporters. Monday night, despite the efforts of one fan in particular, Smart was reminded of that fact as the masses came to support following an interaction with a fan sitting behind the Wizards' bench that led to security leading the ticket holder out of the arena.

As you can see from the video clip below, courtesy of Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog.com and Celtics on CLNS, Smart gets into a rather animated back and forth with the fan behind Washington's bench which prompted the thousands of fans in attendance to chant "We Want Marcus!" as a means of supporting the team's former guard.

Following the game, Smart was asked about the interaction and, without going into great detail about what was said, made it known that the comments made in his direction were not acceptable in any way, shape or form.

"He just crossed the line. We all know, I don't do line crossing," Smart said, via ESPN. "You never want to see that, especially for a guy who's coming back and has given the city everything he has."

Smart did not take the floor during Monday night's showdown between the Wizards and Celtics but his presence was certainly felt in this moment and the fans at TD Garden let him know that they still have his back no matter what uniform he has on.
