The start of a new week means big things around the NFL as the 2025 offseason continues. Monday marks the first day that new head coach can hold their first offseason workouts, giving their fanbase a better sense of where the team is heading after various free agent additions and re-signings.

The New England Patriots are one franchise that hasn't wasted time getting in on the action ahead of Mike Vrabel's first season in town. The former linebacker-turned-coach already has the fanbase singing his praises before he's even taken to the field, and the first wave of offseason workouts is the latest opportunity for him to strengthen any goodwill.

Mike Vrabel's Early Offseason Workouts Highlight Jerod Mayo's Incompetence

The Patriots are officially in offseason workout mode after the team's social media pages shared a video of players arriving at the franchise's facilities Monday morning.

The posting makes it clear that Vrabel isn't wasting any time getting into the swing of things, which is a fairly big departure from the Jerod Mayo experience.

Patriots fans likely remember the team's delayed start to the 2024 offseason activities. Even though, like Vrabel, he also had the opportunity to start workouts early as a new coach, Mayo decided to delay the offseason activities by a week.

"Look, there’s still going to be time to put this thing together," Mayo said about the decision at the time. "I just wanted to make sure that the coaches, the staff, we’re all on the same page going forward."

The decision was questionable when it was announced and was only made worse by New England's putrid regular-season performance. The extra time didn't make a difference in terms of everyone being on the same page, hence why Patriots fans are relieved to see Vrabel taking the opposite approach.

All of Vrabel's offseason decisions so far have been an effort to wash the Mayo era's stench off the organization. It won't be easy, given the Patriots' bad habits from last season, but it is encouraging to see that their new head coach is doing all the right things before training camp has even begun.

Hopefully, Vrabel's changes are good enough to help bring the Patriots back to prominence. After dominating the league for two decades, New England has recorded back-to-back four-win seasons while also going three straight years without a playoff berth.

Even though it's still early to talk about the postseason, Vrabel's squad is already on track to smash last year's win total. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently projecting 7.5 wins for the Patriots in 2025, favoring the Over at -120 odds.
