The New England Patriots have high hopes for what veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs can add to their offensive attack once the 2025 regular season kicks off.
Unfortunately, the commentary surrounding Diggs at the moment has nothing to do with his abilities on the football field and everything to do with how he spent his Memorial Day weekend. With Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel having publicly addressed the video in question featuring Diggs on a boat with a group of women and an unknown substance, the NFL is now weighing in on the matter.
In response to a request from Pro Football Talk, chief NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy made it known that the league "will decline comment" on the video. While the league has nothing to say about the matter at this time, it does not mean that Diggs could not face discipline from the NFL down the road.
The important thing for Patriots fans to know in this case is that Diggs would not face any suspension from the league before the fourth violation of the league's substance abuse policy. As far as we can tell, Diggs has never been found to violate the league's policy at any point in his career.
If Diggs is placed in Stage One of the league's program, he would face enhanced testing and potentially fines. The Patriots could also discipline him in-house if they see fit. Vrabel has made it known that he expects Diggs and the rest of his roster to make great decisions on and off the field, and that any conversations between him and Diggs will stay between them and the franchise.
With the NFL declining to comment on the matter, there is a real possibility that no one will find out what, if anything, this video will lead to for Diggs and the Patriots.
