With the NFL trade deadline looming, many New England Patriots fans wonder if the team will make another move or two as they work to reshape their roster. The Patriots made a notable trade earlier this week, sending veteran pass rusher Josh Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs for draft capital.

On the surface, it was a solid move by the Patriots to get a draft pick for a player who likely would’ve not re-signed with them next offseason. With Uche out of New England, players like K.J. Osborn, Kendrick Bourne, Davon Godchaux, and Jonathan Jones could be potential candidates to be moved next week.

However, one Patriots coach is shutting down the idea of the team trading veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones.

When speaking with reporters on Thursday, New England defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington praised Jones for what he brings to the team.

According to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, Covington highlighted he's not involved in trade talks. Callahan adds Covington doesn't sound like he expects the veteran to be dealt.

Earlier this week, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported on NBC Sports Boston that the Pats are not interested in trading the 31-year-old cornerback.

This season, the veteran cornerback has produced 28 combined tackles, three pass deflections, and a forced fumble. Jones also possesses a 116.0 pass rating allowed when targeted but has only given up one receiving touchdown. The Pats will look for Jones to help them capture their second-straight win on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
