The New England Patriots were reportedly weighing their options concerning Stefon Diggs' spot with the franchise moving forward following the video of the veteran on a boat with an unknown substance over Memorial Day weekend.
It appears as though it did not take long for the coaching staff and front office to conclude the matter, as Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston reports, and that looks to be good news for Diggs.
According to Curran, Diggs may very well face discipline from the team for the video. Don't expect anything to become public knowledge, though. Also, Diggs does not have to worry about the team moving forward without him, as former Patriots quarterback and team radio broadcaster Scott Zolak had previously reported was a possibility.
These are certainly not the kind of conversations that anyone associated with the franchise wanted to be having at this point in the offseason. What should have been a time where fans were excited about seeing their franchise quarterback, Drake Maye, take the practice field with the team's newest weapon on the outside turned into questions about whether Diggs would ever play a down for the Patriots.
Fortunately, Diggs is back at OTAs and on the field with the rest of the roster that is in attendance and available to participate. On Monday, to the excitement of fans, the former Maryland Terrapins standout showed the athleticism that has made him a top wide receiver in the league.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel had made it clear that he expects Diggs and the rest of the roster to make great decisions on and off the field. Those expectations will not change at any point of Vrabel's tenure in New England. Diggs would be wise to take that message to heart and focus on being the best teammate and receiving option he can be.
