After finishing 8-26 over the past two seasons, the New England Patriots are a fun football team for all of New England to watch, enjoy, and look forward to seeing every week again.

There hasn’t been a game played yet in the 2025 NFL season, but the entire perspective of the team is refreshing from where we've been over the last two years.

It starts with the head coach, Mike Vrabel. This isn’t to throw any strays at Jerod Mayo, but with Vrabel leading the way, he’s already instilled a culture that the players have bought into, and so have the fans.

MIke Vrabel Already Made Patriots Fun Again

Along with rebuilding a culture, Vrabel and his staff have completely retooled the roster from the top to bottom with players that fit into their identity of the team and the play style of the coaches.

In doing so, Vrabel added veteran players that he’s already coached and have been in his system and coached by his coaches in the past. That’s where Robert Spillane, Harold Landry, Jack Gibbens, Kyle Peko, Joshua Dobbs, and Monty Rice fit into this equation.

While parting ways with some long-tenured players isn’t easy for the organization or fanbase, the new crop of talent that the Patriots added this offseason has brought a newfound joy back to the team for all involved: the players, the front office, the Krafts, the coaches, and the fans.

With Drake Maye, Will Campbell, TreVeyon Henderson, DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, and Jared Wilson, it gives the fans a new wave of players that they can grow with and watch develop their careers together in New England.

Newly acquired veteran cornerback Carlton Davis said in a recent press conference that he’s excited about the “new Patriots”, and I think it’s fair to say that’s a mutual feeling throughout the organization.

In addition to Davis and Vrabel’s former players, the Patriots also added Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Milton Williams, and Morgan Moses to bring veteran quality and leadership to the team.

In the first preseason game against the Washington Commanders, Henderson returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. That first play set the tone for the 2025 season. We’re seeing everything with this group, from the draft and the progress through minicamp to training camp and now the preseason, translated onto the field.

This entire offseason has reseeded hope and joy and brought optimism back into the hearts of Patriots diehards.
