There are very few teams in the NFL who were more aggressive this offseason than the New England Patriots.
With Mike Vrabel in town, the Pats didn't want to waste any time making adjustments to the roster. After handing out a ton of money in free agency, they were able to add more playmakers in the 2025 NFL draft.
They drafted 11 players, and in the second round (38th overall), they drafted RB TreVeyon Henderson out of the Ohio State University.
Despite playing zero snaps for this team, Henderson is already looking like a terrific addition.
TreVeyon Henderson Has Already Made His Presence Felt
Yes, the Pats have Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson on the roster, but what Henderson brings to the table is different. The OSU product is a patient runner who can quickly accelerate upfield with the speed to break away from defenders.
Furthermore, Henderson has soft hands out of the backfield as a pass-catcher. In 47 games as a Buckeye, he had 3,761 rushing yards, 42 touchdowns on the ground, and 6.3 yards per carry. In addition, Henderson has 77 grabs for 853 receiving yards and another six scores.
He wasted no time putting these skills on display. According to Mike Dussault of the official team website, he wrote, "Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson was hard to miss. Henderson's explosiveness jumps off the field, and he's been a consistent factor during team periods, showcasing a versatile skill set that could make him a key contributor in his first NFL season."
According to MassLive's Mark Daniels, Henderson was already playing with the first team, pushing Gibson to get reps with QB2 Joshua Dobbs.
"Antonio Gibson had a good practice on Tuesday, leading all pass catchers with four receptions. All those catches, however, came from Dobbs as opposed to Maye. The reason has been due to the emergence of rookie TreVeyon Henderson. The second-round pick caught two passes on Tuesday, but both came from Maye. Henderson has been rotating in with Rhamondre Stevenson, which shows that the Patriots have big plans for him."Mark Daniels
It's clear that New England has high hopes for Henderson, and his play on the field is shining through. They wouldn't have used a top 40 draft pick on a running back if they didn't believe he was capable of making an immediate impact, and he's already showing that on the practice field.
