The New England Patriots are coming off their bye week to head to Arizona to take on the Cardinals on Sunday. Sitting at 3-10, the Patriots are more concerned about player development and evaluation in the final four games of the season. As they face the Bills twice and the Chargers in the remaining games, the wins may be hard to come by for New England. For a fanbase that is hoping for another high draft pick, that might not be a bad thing.

One young player Patriots fans were hoping to see more in the final stretch of the season was rookie wide receiver Javon Baker. Unfortunately, however, the talented receiver landed on the injury report with a surprise injury. Despite the fact that the Patriots had a bye week, a non-padded practice on Monday, and didn't practice on Tuesday, Baker has reportedly suffered a concussion.

Patriots insider Mark Daniels reported that head coach Jerod Mayo wouldn't get into specifics about Baker's concussion.

Jerod Mayo Refuses to Reveal Details of Javon Baker's Injury

Baker only played two snaps against the Colts prior to the bye week. Even though it didn't seem like he was involved in such an action, Baker may have sustained a concussion at some point during the contest.

Mayo refusing to disclose when the injury occurred, however, is somewhat concerning. Whether we will find out more about the situation remains to be seen but this doesn't bode well for Baker.

The fourth-round pick out of UCF has intriguing physical and athletic tools but hasn't been able to put it together in the NFL. So far, he has only appeared in 32 offensive snaps this season, failing to get a target or a reception. He has been a little more involved on special teams as he returned three kicks for 79 yards for the season.

Let's hope Baker returns from his absence soon to take the field in the final few weeks of the season to show the coaching staff and the organization what he is capable of.
