Patriots Reportedly Sign Recently Released Rookie
By Cem Yolbulan
It's that time of the year when injuries start piling up and teams begin to lose key players for extended periods of time. As a result, teams make roster moves to find replacements and depth pieces.
The New England Patriots, who are dealing with as many injuries to starters as any team in the NFL, are similarly engaged in roster-churning moves. On Friday, they added two players to the practice squad; long snapper Tucker Addington and defensive tackle Marcus Harris. The former played in three games with New England in 2022 and the latter is a 2024 draft pick of the Houston Texans.
NFL News: Patriots Sign DT Marcus Harris
Harris was a seventh-round pick out of Auburn. After spending the preseason with Houston, he was released and then added to the practice squad. He was waived by the practice squad on Wednesday and the Patriots wasted no time bringing the 24-year-old rookie to Foxborough.
Before spending three seasons at Auburn, Harris played for Kansas in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He finished his five-year collegiate career with 125 tackles, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
The New England Patriots have Keion White, Daniel Ekuale, and Davon Godchaux taking the majority of the snaps at defensive tackle. Trysten Hill saw some snaps earlier in the season but was released this week. Jeremiah Pharms Jr. backs up the aforementioned trio for now and Harris will have to wait for an injury or an underperformance to get a chance in the rotation.
