New England's disastrous Week 7 loss to the Jaguars has only gotten worse in the immediate hours following the game. Rookie WR Ja'Lynn Polk was called out by Jerod Mayo and he's responded with a cryptic social media post signaling his frustration.

Polk's career is off to a disastrous start despite his promising pedigree, catching only 10 of 23 targets for 78 yards and one TD. The second-round pick was thought to be a foundational part of the rebuild but has been an anchor holding down the offense instead.

His recent Instagram post implies Polk's willingness to get a fresh start. This is early enough in his career that he has plenty of time to turn things around, though it's hard to find a positive indicator in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's loss.

Patriots Rookie WR Ja'Lynn Polk Makes Cryptic Social Media Post

Polk's emoji and song usage indicate a level of unhappiness. The late, great Rich Homie Quan's song "God Ain't Forget About Me" features lyrics suggesting most have given up, though Polk's faith may help him pull through.

This is a highly-coveted prospect who shined at Washington, catching 69 passes for 1,159 yards and 10 TDs from scrimmage for a College Football Playoff squad. For Polk's rookie season to have gotten off so poorly is certainly an indictment on him, but it's an indication of the organizational mess as well.

No second-round 22-year-old playmaker should be dealing with this kind of stress and feelings of inadequacy. Polk needs to improve, but so does nearly every other player on the roster. The Patriots are perhaps the worst team in the NFL - that's not Polk's fault.

Whether or not the talented receiver wants out remains to be seen. Either way, this post is a disastrous signal for a team going nowhere fast.
