Coming out of the NFL Draft, the New England Patriots looked and felt like they nailed their picks. Will Campbell, TreVeyon Henderson, Jared Wilson, and Kyle Williams all ranked as top 60 prospects per Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network. Just as important, those draftees filled critical roles for the Patriots offense which ranked towards the bottom of the league. Finding a long-term solution at left tackle, a versatile interior lineman, and two playmakers in the draft is something that most teams can only dream of.

Reports out of camp indicate that Jared Wilson is running with the first team offensive line full-time now. Will Campbell is taking his licks but is adapting to the pro game and asking all the right questions to get better. Kyle Williams and Drake Maye are working on building long-term chemistry, and the two have found each other consistently.

All of that is great news considering the state of the roster last year. The most exciting thing may be the report from Jordan Schultz regarding RB TreVeyon Henderson. Schultz reports that the Patriots are "excited" about Henderson's performance, but the fact that the words "special" and "difference-maker" have been used about him should make every Pats fan thrilled about their new rusher.

Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson Already Creating Buzz in Training Camp

The report from Schultz indicates that Henderson could start to get national buzz quickly if this continues. Based on some recent reports, it would appear that Henderson is quickly becoming a favorite target of Drake Maye, snagging five passes in team drills Monday. As Schultz noted in his post, Henderson came into the league with "home run speed and explosiveness", but now Henderson appears to be showing off his pass-catching abilities as well.

With the need for flexibility in today's NFL, having a running back like Henderson, who could line up in running and passing situations, may see him in an increased role sooner rather than later. Henderson is already rotating in with the first team with fellow running backs, Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson, but if he continues on this trajectory, he may be taking the lion's share of the snaps at some point this season.

There is always a learning curve for rookies in training camp and once the real games start, but Henderson appears to be not only adapting but also thriving. It's early, but Henderson could be the Patriots' lead back in short order and even make a push for Offensive Rookie of the Year. It's been some time since the Patriots have had a true game-changing running back; if these reports are true, Henderson may finally be it.
