The New England Patriots made 12 total selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they were just as active in the undrafted rookie free agent market after the Draft.
The Patriots signed 19 players as undrafted rookie free agents, bringing in a haul of players directly after the draft concluded. Those players include:
- Ben Wooldridge, QB (Louisiana)
- Lan Larison, RB (UC Davis)
- Brock Lampe, FB (NIU)
- DeMeer Blankumsee, WR (Memphis)
- Efton Chism III, WR (Eastern Washington)
- Jeremiah Webb, WR (South Alabama)
- Jack Conley, OL (Boston College)
- Cole Birdow, G (Merrimack)
- CJ Dippre, TE (Alabama)
- Gee Scott Jr., TE (Ohio State)
- Cam Riley, LB (Florida State)
- Brandon Crossley, CB (SMU)
- John Minkins, S (Cincinnati)
- Wilfred Pene, DL (Virginia Tech)
- Jordan Polk, S (Texas State)
- Elijah Ponder, EDGE (Cal Poly)
- Hector Johnson, DL (Endicott)
- Duane Martin, FB (Louisville)
- Bryce Ganious, DT (Wake Forest)
One of the names that stands out to me on this list is Efton Chism III out of Eastern Washington, where he was a major producer, totaling 341 receptions for 3,795 yards and 37 touchdowns in his four-year career. He’s 5-foot-10, 195-lbs, and fits the mold of what Josh McDaniels enjoys as a utility receiver in his offense.
Another player that stands out is running back Lan Larison out of UC Davis. Larison spent five years in the backfield, racking up 3,627 yards on 639 carries. He’s a hard runner who doesn’t go down at first contact. Larison is also a great returner, taking 49 returns for 1,227 yards.
It’s worth mentioning that Boston College offensive lineman Jack Conley has been signed. He’s a local player, someone that Vrabel and the coaching staff know a lot about due to the relationship with Boston College head coach Bill O’Brien. He’s 6-foot-7 and weighs 325 lbs. Ahead of the draft, I mentioned that I didn’t think Vrabel could pass on BC’s other tackle, Ozzy Tapilo (6’8”, 309 lbs.), but maybe Conley was also someone New England was targeting.
The last player that caught my eye is fullback Brock Lampe out of Northern Illinois. The fullback position in football is becoming obsolete, if it hasn’t already been. Lampe started his career as a linebacker and then switched to fullback. Lampe finished with 20 carries for 66 yards and scored two touchdowns in his career.
Undrafted free agents are nothing to look away from in New England. Over the last twenty years, the Patriots have found undrafted rookies that went on to become integral parts of the franchise. Some of those players include Stephen Neal, David Andrews, Brandon Bolden, Malcolm Butler, J.C. Jackson, and Jonathan Jones.
The Patriots were busy both during and after the draft as Vrabel continues to rebuild this team with the players that he wants. This was an excellent draft from New England.
There’s a lot of work to be done to the roster now that it’s overflowing with talent and potential players that are worth seeing if they can make the cut or not.
It’s going to be an awesome spring of competition in New England as these players try to prove themselves to Vrabel and the coaching staff.
