The 2024 season has been a campaign of rebuilding in New England. The Patriots are 3-12 going into Week 17.

The Pats are playing for pride and seeking to end the season on a positive note. With just two weeks left in the season, second-year defender Keion White cast some doubt on his future in New England.

Patriots News: Keion White Questions His Future in NE

White was speaking with MassLive on Thursday and his answers showcased his frustration with how the season has gone.

He said, "I’m going to try to get through these next two games, and then figure it out after that, and see where the cards may lie for my future."

That is a bit interesting since White is only in the second year of a four-year rookie contract. As a rookie, the Georgia Tech product had an intriguing rookie season (26 total tackles & one sack). He looked poised to have a breakout 2024 season (four sacks in the first two games) but had one sack over the next 13 games.

White's comments also caused confusion since it sounds like he could have a problem with the coaching.

"Just in general. In terms of everything. I mean, anything is possible. It’s the NFL. Anything can happen year to year. It’s a production-based business. It is what it is. You just figure out where you go ... something’s gotta change. That’s the way I feel at this point."

He added, "I don’t think it’s just one thing. I think it’s a lot of things. First and foremost, it’s me. I need to improve me, and being on the same page with what the coaches want. But I think it’s a lot of other things as well. Without going too much into details, that’s how I feel."

This season, White has compiled 52 total tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles. He needs to improve as a run defender (59.2 run-defense grade per PFF) but has juice as a pass rusher (78.6 pass-rush grade).

This is the first season with Jerod Mayo in charge of running the ship but there seems to be some misunderstanding between White and the staff.

For a second-year player to make this kind of statement isn't a good sign. From the outside looking in, White may want to suit up elsewhere in 2025, but there is a long road ahead before that becomes a possibility.
