Patriots Stealing Respected Coach From Bills After Buffalo's Playoff Loss
There are just two teams left playing football. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are going to square off against the Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.
On Jan. 26, the Chiefs outlasted the Bills, sending Buffalo home in the postseason once again. That is a tough pill to swallow for the Bills, but nothing stops in the NFL. The focus has changed over to the 2025 season.
Patriots News: Scott Booker is Joining New England’s Coaching Staff
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Patriots are expected to hire Bills nickels coach/senior defensive assistant Scott Booker.
Booker started his coaching career in the college ranks with Notre Dame and Nebraska. He got into the NFL with the Tennessee Titans in 2018, with Mike Vrabel. Booker was a general defensive assistant before getting promoted to safeties coach in 2020.
He held that title for four seasons before joining Buffalo this past season, serving as a senior defensive assistant and nickels coach.
Although Booker's official title hasn't been announced, his addition makes a ton of sense. Cornerback coach Mike Pellegrino and safeties coach Brian Belichick won't be returning to New England in 2025, so there is a need along the staff.
Booker having a connection with Vrabel goes a long way. He's been bringing guys over to New England he's worked with and has a rapport with.
The Patriots have their hands full this offseason as they seek to turn things around. They have yet to officially announce Vrabel's full coaching staff but will do so at the same time in the near future.
Offseason planning and scouting are in full force. Vrabel is down in Mobile, Alabama, for the Senior Bowl. He's getting a look at some prospects ahead of the Scouting Combine and Pro Days while he puts the final touches on his staff.
