The New England Patriots are 2-6 on the season and snapped their six-game skid on Week 8. On Sunday, the Pats defeated the New York Jets 25-22.

This victory gave the Pats some positive vibes after a shaky six-game drought. It was always going to be a rebuilding year for New England and they decided to ship out a defender to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.

Patriots News: Josh Uche Traded to Kansas City Chiefs

New England traded edge defender Josh Uche to the Chiefs in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. This doesn't come as a surprise to Patriot fans, as Uche was a healthy scratch against the Jets.

Head coach Jerod Mayo said New England wanted to put the best group out there that gave them the best shot of winning. They didn't feel like Uche provided that, and he's now headed out of town.

This offseason, the Michigan product, and New England agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million deal. Despite the excitement going into the year, it faded rather quickly, Uche is third on the team in defensive end snaps (162) but saw his snaps decline since Week 5.

This season, the 26-year-old has compiled 10 total tackles with two sacks. It was clear that Uche was going to leave in free agency so the Pats decided to get some kind of value for him ahead of the Nov. 5 trade deadline.

New England is focused on building for the future and this is likely the first of many moves they are going to make over the next week.
