It's been a busy week for the New England Patriots. Following a 48-18 win in the first preseason game against the Washington Commanders, the team traveled to Minnesota for joint practices with the Vikings before the two teams faced off on Saturday in the second preseason game of the year. In that game, one Patriots wide receiver on the roster bubble may have locked up his roster spot with another strong performance.

Efton Chism May Have Secured His Roster Spot
The big riser for the Patriots during training camp has been undrafted rookie receiver Efton Chism. Chism has had a strong camp and opening preseason game. In the game against the Commanders, Chism finished the game with 6 catches for 50 yards and 1 touchdown.
Following the opening preseason game, Chism had the highlight of the practice with a spectacular catch on a throw by backup QB Joshua Dobbs. Going into the preseason game against the Vikings, Chism was a player to watch, given that he is fighting for a spot on the roster. During the game, Chism made sure he was going to do everything to secure his roster spot.

Chsim had the play of the day, where he fought through four defenders on 3rd & 9 to score the Patriots' second touchdown on the day. Before this play, Chism had multiple impressive catches, including another 3rd down catch that kept the drive alive. Chism finished with 6 catches for 71 yards and 1 touchdown. On that touchdown drive, Chism had 4 catches for 63 yards, with the last one ending in a touchdown.
Given the multiple strong performances, Chism has more than earned his roster spot. While we still have one more week of the preseason before the Patriots need to make roster cuts, it would be a mistake for the team to cut Chism at this point. The Patriots will wrap up the preseason with one more game against the New York Giants on Thursday, August 21st, on Amazon Prime.
