Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard is in the middle of a breakout season. The 27-year-old is on pace to set career-highs in points (14.0) rebounds (3.8) and steals (0.9) during his fifth season in the league and is a candidate to win the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Pritchard also made a big impact in Boston’s run to the NBA title last season. With six games remaining in the regular season,he’ll be key as Boston looks to repeat as champions. But that success has led to some increased exposure, which led to a surprising announcement ahead of the final stretch.
Celtics Guard Payton Pritchard Signs Shoe Deal With Converse
According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Pritchard has signed an endorsement deal with Converse. The deal has Pritchard joining Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kelly Oubre Jr. as the brand’s signature NBA players and accomplishes some of his off the court goals.
“As a player, I’m always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and Converse shares that same mindset,” Pritchard said in a statement. “I’m excited to join the Converse Basketball family and help inspire the next generation of athletes to find their voice and express themselves on and off the court.”

A shoe deal is a big step for any basketball player. But it’s notable that Converse chose Pritchard as part of its revival. The brand first made its foray to basketball in 1917 and became increasingly popular in the 1980s and 1990s before filing for bankruptcy in 2001. The Massachusetts-based company was acquired by Nike in 2003 and has jumped into the signature shoe market, most recently dropping Gilgeous-Alexander’s SHAI 001, which was modeled at NBA All-Star Weekend and will be available in the fall of 2025.
Pritchard will wear the All Star BB Trilliant CX shoe as part of the deal but it could be a sign of bigger things to come. After a breakout year, Pritchard’s stock could be on the rise as he’s signed with the Celtics through the 2028 season.
