1. Andre Tippett

One that I'm not entirely sure why it hasn't happened yet, Andre Tippett's No. 56 tops the list. Drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round in 1982, Tippett established himself as one of the best defensive players in franchise history. In his 12 years with the Patriots, he racked up 100 sacks, the most in team history. Tippett spent his entire career with New England.

A four-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler, Tippett is already a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Patriots Hall of Fame. He was named to the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team, the New England Patriots All-1980s and All-1990s Team, and both the New England Patriots 35th and 50th Anniversary teams.

No Patriots player is currently assigned No. 56.

A laundry list of accolades, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, and a one-team player with the Patriots? Tippett should be a shoo-in.
