Loser: Luke Kornet

Preseason averages: 3.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists

With the rise of Queta came the fall of Kornet.

If Boston were to go with a double-big starting lineup (Al Horford, Porzingis down low), as things stand now, Kornet would wind up being the backup center. But he didn't really show anything this preseason that shows he's truly deserving of that role.

Kornet probably won't end up getting bumped from the 15-man roster (yet), but there's a very good chance that Queta significantly eats into his minutes as the regular season progresses.

Loser: Sam Hauser

Preseason averages: 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists

Hauser made such great strides during the 2022-23 campaign, and he's shooting 42 percent from 3-point range for his career, but you wouldn't be able to tell based on his performance this preseason.

Through five games, Hauser made just 30.6 percent of his threes, although he did start to find his stroke again after going 2-for-15 (13.3 percent) from distance in Games 1 and 2 of the preseason.

After that cold start, Hauser made 9 of 21 (42.9 percent) triples, so hopefully that momentum carries over into the regular season. Boston lost a lot of talented shooters this offseason -- Malcolm Brogdon, Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala -- so Hauser will likely be called upon quite a bit to do damage from distance.
