3 Bruins on the Nice List (& 2 on the Naughty List) This Christmas
Nice List #3: Jeremy Swayman
The Bruins have one of the NHL's best goaltending tandems, however, Linus Ullmark received most of the attention last season. The Swedish netminder was the best at his position in 2022-23, taking home the Vezina Trophy after leading the league in wins, goals-against average, and save percentage.
Much to the surprise of few, Ullmark has come back to earth this season and looks a lot more human. Fortunately, Jeremy Swayman has done a good enough job of picking up the slack thanks to his own breakout performance.
Through 15 starts, Swayman is 9-1-4 with a .933 SV%, 2.06 goals-against average, and two shutout wins. He also leads the NHL with 13.6 goals saved above average, whereas Ullmark sits at 4.6 in that regard while owning a .912 SV% and 2.86 GAA without a shutout.
While Santa will reward Swayman for his strong play at Christmas, the 25-year-old hopes to get a financial gift from management next summer. He's slated to become a restricted free agent at the end of the year and continuing his strong play will ensure the Bruins back the Brink's truck up to his house.
