3 Bruins on the Nice List (& 2 on the Naughty List) This Christmas
Naughty List #1: Jake DeBrusk
Jake DeBrusk's time with the Bruins has been interesting, to say the least. On one hand, he's been one of the franchise's more consistent scorers since being drafted 14th overall at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. His 109 goals since the start of the 2018-19 campaign only rank behind Pastrnak (226), Brad Marchand (159), and Bergeron (138) as far as Boston players go.
But after tallying career-highs in goals (27) and points (50) last season, DeBrusk's 2023-24 performance is nothing short of underwhelming.
Although he hasn't been the Bruins' worst player, DeBrusk's four goals and 11 points in 29 games are much lower than his usual production. He's only on pace for 11 goals and 31 points, which would both be his worst outputs aside from when he only played 41 games in 2020-21.
DeBrusk is still playing over 17 minutes a night but he just can't convert on any opportunities, highlighted by his eight-game goal drought as of Dec. 22. In fact, he doesn't have a single goal this month.
While a strong second half could get DeBrusk back into Bruins fans' good graces, it's far too late for him to get off the Naughty List.
