Fresh off winning the 2024 championship, the Boston Celtics are undoubtedly already planning for next season. In an ideal world, Brad Stevens would bring back the entire team and the coaching staff for the 2024-25 season. He will certainly have a chance to retain most of the core pieces. But there are also certain things that are outside Boston's control. There will be departures and new faces and Celtics fans need to be ready when they happen.

Here are three members of the title-winning 2024 Boston Celtics team who might not be back next year.

Sam Cassell

This is the common downside of winning a championship. Title-winning teams become the victims of their own successes and their coaching staff draws a ton of attention from the rest of the league. Sam Cassell, who joined head coach Joe Mazzulla's staff in the 2023 offseason is a prime candidate to be poached by another team in the NBA.

The Celtics already lost Jeff Van Gundy to the Los Angeles Clippers after their championship. Cassell, who has already been a head coaching candidate elsewhere, is the likely next name to leave Boston.

This is understandable. Cassell is 54 and has been an assistant coach for the past 15 years. He has the pedigree, respect, and experience to run his own team. The Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are both looking for their next head coach, will both consider Cassell for that position.

It will be a tough loss for the Celtics as Cassell knows the organization and this coaching staff very well but Boston should be able to find his replacement as they offer an excellent opportunity to win a championship.
