3. Garrett Crochet, SP, Chicago White Sox

Doubling up on young American League Central southpaws, Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox would be a dream addition to the Red Sox rotation.

A former 11th overall pick, Garrett Crochet wasted no time making an impact at the big league level. After being drafted out of Tennessee, Crochet became the first player in a decade to jump from college straight to MLB without appearing in a single minor league game.

In his three MLB seasons, the now 25-year-old featured predominantly out of the bullpen and as an opener. Adjusting to his first year as a starter in 2024, Crochet has thrived in the transition. The hard-throwing left-hander leads the American League in strikeouts (157) and ranks fifth in WHIP (0.97) and 16th in ERA (3.07).

Crochet averages a 97 MPH fastball that he pairs with a cutter, sweeper, and changeup. Like the aforementioned Skubal, Crochet also has two years of team control remaining following this season and his value will rise due to that.

If the Red Sox swung a trade for the young flamethrower, they should expect him to be a part of their rotation for the foreseeable future.

The White Sox have been a dumpster fire with the worst record in baseball and will be sellers at the deadline. White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. is also in the mix to be dealt. Given many similarities between Skubal and Crochet, the Orioles and Dodgers will also likely be testing the waters on the White Sox hurler. The Philadelphia Phillies are also reported to be eyeing Crochet.
