3 Former Celtics Still Unemployed After 2 Months of Free Agency

Even though NBA free agency began nearly two months ago, these three former Boston Celtics are still looking for new employment opportunities.

2. Lamar Stevens, PF/C

Lamar Stevens' stay with the Celtics was a short one. After Stevens spent his first three seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston signed the former NIT MVP to a one-year contract ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The Philadelphia, PA native's stay in Boston lasted less than five months as he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies — along with two second-round picks — in exchange for Xavier Tillman ahead of February's deadline. He ended up playing just 19 games in a Celtics jersey, averaging 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 points while shooting 45.0% from the floor and 30.4% from deep.

The move to Memphis ended up paying off for Stevens, though. His playing time with the Grizzlies nearly quadrupled his opportunities with the Celtics, resulting in his averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds with .446/.289/.791 shooting splits across 19 games.

Based on his second-half performance, it's shocking that Stevens is a free agent. Even though he likely won't win games on his own, he's still an athletic 6-foot-6 forward who might just be reaching his peak.
