3 Most Likely Ezekiel Elliott Destinations in Free Agency
2. Dallas Cowboys
And just like there's a chance that he stays in New England, there's also a possibility that Elliott returns to where it all began: Dallas.
After all, Elliott didn't exactly want to leave the Cowboys last year. Hell, the organization didn't want him gone either but saving nearly $11 million with a release was too tempting to pass up. Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones even told 105.3 The Fan back in September that part of him hoped that Elliott would return before Bill Belichick convinced the veteran rusher to join the Pats.
Well, Jones was right to feel that way. The Cowboys' run game took a hit after replacing Elliott with Tony Pollard as the lead back. Dallas went from averaging 135.2 rushing yards per game with Elliott as the RB1 in 2022 (9th) to 112.9 with Pollard leading the charge last season (14th).
On top of that, the Cowboys went from racking up 18 TDs within the 20-yard line in 2022 to seven without Elliott last year.
Considering how a running back's career could fall off a cliff at a moment's notice, Elliott might be enticed to return to the Cowboys before his regression speeds up.
