3 Most Likely Ezekiel Elliott Destinations in Free Agency
3. New York Jets
The New York Jets are another suitable free-agent destination for Elliott this spring.
The Jets running back situation outside of Breece Hall was somewhat of a disaster in 2023. Michael Carter wound up being released in November due to uninspiring play, free-agent addition Dalvin Cook was nothing short of horrendous with the ball in his hands, and rookie RB Israel Abanikanda didn't look all that impressive in his limited playing time.
Even though Elliott is no longer in his prime, he'd still be an upgrade over what the Jets worked with last season. Hall would also see the majority of touches out of the backfield, allowing the 28-year-old veteran to conserve his energy until he's absolutely needed. New York also only scored three rushing TDs in the red zone in 2023, which is another area where Elliott can help after racking up 15 RZ touchdowns in the last two seasons alone.
The Jets are desperate to win a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers under center, meaning they'd love to surround him with reliable players like Elliott. If the St. Louis, MO native is convinced that the Jets have what it takes to help him win his first ring, I won't be shocked if Elliott is playing under Robert Saleh this fall.
