1. Los Angeles Rams

Unlike the other two teams on this list, the Los Angeles Rams don't hold a pick until the second half of the first round, picking at 19. Their attention in the draft will primarily be on the defensive side of the ball, with cornerback, edge, linebacker, and safety ranked as their pressing areas of needs.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is 36 years old and has missed 10 games over the last two seasons. Carson Wentz is a pending UFA, leaving Stafford and 2023 fourth-rounder Stetson Bennett as the lone QBs on Sean McVay's roster. Given Stafford's injury history over the last few campaigns, it wouldn't be unfair to suggest that a backup will likely have to step up and fill in at some point in 2024.

McVay also deserves some credit for Baker Mayfield's career resurrection, the former first overall pick was claimed off waivers in December 2022 with his career in jeopardy. With Mayfield coming off of a season in which he earned a Pro Bowl nod and finished third in Comeback Player of the Year voting, it sounds absurd to compare him to Jones. However, when Mayfield joined McVay in Southern California, he was on his third team in five months, had been given up on by the team that had drafted him, and had completed less than 60 percent of his passes and gone 1-5 in Carolina. There are a lot of parallels to Jones' career trajectory.

If vaunted quarterback whisperer Sean McVay can't resurrect his career, then the "bust" label can be etched into Jones' NFL tombstone.
