3 Patriots Still on Thin Ice After Week 7 Win

One win doesn't erase an entire season's worth of frustrations.

3. Ezekiel Elliott

Elliott scored a touchdown last week (and the week before, too), but it has not been fun watching him run the football this year.

His pair of touchdowns notwithstanding, Elliott has been absolutely dreadful on the ground this year. He has just 224 rushing yards on 60 carries, averaging 3.7 yards per attempt and 32.0 rushing yards per game (both career-lows).

Elliott looks like a 28-year-old running back with no offensive line, which is to say, not good. He hasn't done much in the passing game, either, catching 13 of his 17 targets for 59 yards with no touchdowns and only 1 first down. His 4.5 yards per reception are -- you guessed it -- also a career-worst.

Elliott hasn't been a good signing by the Patriots (who has?), but at least he's going to be a free agent after this season. New England should strongly consider trading him at the deadline (if anyone wants him) or moving on from him in the second half of the season if it continues to lose games. The Pats aren't gaining anything by continuing to run Elliott into opponents' defensive lines and hoping he breaks through into the end zone.
