2. Christian Barmore, DT

A handful of Patriots enjoyed breakout campaigns in 2023, including defensive tackle Christian Barmore.

The former Alabama product was one of New England's more consistent defenders as he took his game to the next level. Barmore set new personal bests regarding solo tackles (39), sacks, (8.5), and defended passes (6) while even adding his first-ever forced fumble. Pro Football Focus awarded him with an 83.8 defense grade for his efforts — eighth-best among 130 interior defenders — to go on top of his 84.9 pass-rush grade (7th).

While some fans might see his performance as a one-off, I'm not so sure about that. Barmore essentially tripled his output following an injured-plagued 2022 campaign and could get better going forward considering how he's only 24 years old. If Jerod Mayo's staff can take advantage of the ex-2021 second-rounders' potential, the sky could be the limit.

With that in mind, it's in the Pats' best interest to lock Barmore down now. He's only going to command more money if he proves last season's showing wasn't a fluke, meaning New England could save a lot of money by extending him sooner rather than later.
